The Devil Dogs of Kai

[Koushi]

"Aha! Got one!"
Makoto landed ungracefully on his paws, but held his prize in his maw proudly, fluffing out his chest as he gazed at Rae. "I told you I can catch a mountain bird."
Despite it being nearly his first GOOD catch of the day, it was quite plump, and would serve as a hearty meal the next day. /I'm sure Tokimune would be pleased to eat this!/ he thought, tail wagging as he dropped the kill in front of him.



Haru sped up. She leapt onto a tree, then made a great jump onto the side of the mountain, just under the ledge. She got a couple of scratches on her arms and legs that started to bleed, but she tried to ignore them.
Her heart pumped as if the lie she was about to yell was true. "Blue! Makoto! Rae!" she howled desperately, climbing onto the ledge. "Hurry! Please come quick!" Haru sounded more and more desperate, as if there was a large bear in front of her, and she had two broken legs. She whipped around.
"Hello!? Please! Tokimune's in danger!" she barked, fur bristling.

[Rae and Blue]

Rae smiled, watching as Makoto killed the bird with ease. She smiled and nuzzled his neck, still ever so greatful to him for saving her. She looked at the bird, "Nice catch!" She said, Smiling and laughed at how proud Makoto was, She was in a hunters crouch as a raccoon lumbered through the underbrush, unaware of her as it came ever nearer. She smiled and licked her lips, 'Thats right, a little clos-' Blue! Makoto! Rae! she lifted her head, the coon dissapearing among the undergrowth, chattering furiously. She cursed, lookng up, Haru sped there way, Scratched and panic. Tokimune is in danger! She gasped and turned swiftly to stand beside Makoto, "What!? How? What happened!?" She shot out the words hastily, fear bubbling in her chest.

Blue smiled at Kotone and was about to stalk a sleeping bird, but Haru's paniced yelping made him turn, "Follow me!" He yelled, heading in the direction of her voice. He crashed through the undergrowth and slid to a stop, "What?! How did this happen? Where is he?!" He said, glaring at Haru, "For a Nin-ken you should have howled and followed him rather than come and get us!" He growled, mixed emotions fought and raged inside of him as he tried to figure which one to let winover. He sighed, shutting his eyes. "Explain the situation." He said calmly, Someone had to take charge.

[Koushi]

Makoto followed Rae towards Haru, and spotted Blue and a newcomer as the Nin-ken gasped for breath. His heart drummed once he understood her previous screech.
/TOKIMUNE IS IN DANGER?!/ His eyes widened with disbelief and fear.

Her voice trembled.
"I was sleeping in that cave," she pointed to the cavern with her muzzle, "While Tokimune was outside. Eventually, he fell asleep." She took a deep breath before continuing. "I did as well, but when I awoke, I saw him unconcious, being carried away by a shadow. I tried to follow, but two brutes blocked my way, and overpowered me." She shivered. "I nearly fell down the mountain trying to fight them...I wanted to yell for help but they stuffed a bunch of weird-smelling herbs in my mouth that made me feel really weak..." Her eyes grew wide. "And the dogs who took him...They were Kai dogs...!"
Tears streamed down her face. "It's all my fault...We've...We've got to find him! Her muscles tensed and she clenched her teeth. "If it's the last thing I do, I'd die to get him back!"

[Rinja]

(lets just say that kisaragi as out hunting m'kay O.o)Kisaragi had raced to the scene and lsitened varefully to Haru "I was sleeping in that cave," , "While Tokimune was outside. She barked Emerald eyes looking around, then looking at haru, who had tears goign down her face.Kisaragi Sighed then looekd around "Does anyone have a clue where we might find tokimune and the kai dogs?!" Her voice was slightly shaky as she shivered and thought what the kai-dogs could do to them.

[Rae and Blue]

Rae dug her claws in the ground as she listened to Haru's story, she growled, "Those bastards!" She felt her fur bristle as she tried to calm down, but to no avail.

"Haru. You follow the trail as well as you can, We'll meet up with you in a few minutes." He looked over at Makoto, "You and Rae will follow me, We're going to circle around and hopefully drive them down the mountain where we may have a chance." He stated, Already running through the underbrush, Rae waiting reluctantly at the edge, Waiting for makoto.

[Taiya]

Kotone nodded and followed him, suddenly very alert. She held back when she got there, standing next to a tree, listening intently. Haru seemed to much of a whiner for a nin-ken, but Kotone let the thought go balming her own self for being rude. Kotone made a mental note to remember their names. Then, she decided to take action. She followed Blue. After all, she wasn't part of their pack, she cpold do as she pleased.

[Aki]

A large figure stood in the distance on some craggy rocks. Its eyes were narrowed with a glint of them into the darkness as its teeth now sparklied through the night. "Ashi's followers have tried to invade Kai now? I expected more." The voice was dull and deep sounding as if a male. The moon now shown from over the large dog revialing him. His fur was brown on the top with a white chest, face, legs, underbelly and underneath his tail.

Black stripes lined his back and tail along with his face also. His brown eyes narrowed down from his spotted cheeks. He reared back his head to let out a howl as he jumped down in front of Blue and the others. "Hault! Your entering Kai territory Ashi, and where ready to fight for it." He snarled looking at Blue. He thought Ashi was bigger for a wolf but it didn't matter now.

[Rinja]

Kisaragi's ears twitches as she turned her headto see...A kai dog! Her fur bristled as she let out a low growl "WHAT DID YOU DO WITH TOKIMUNE!?"
"Hault! Your entering Kai territory Ashi, and where ready to fight for it." 'What..?Ashi?'

[Rae and Blue]

Akumatora came from the bush behind Kazetora, His rusty fur shining in the high moonllight. He smiled, His bandana blew around his neck as a gust of wind past by. "We can take 'em." He said, laughing and running his tongue over his maw. This dog was the grandson of Akatora, the only living relative the heroic dog. He and his family were all Kai blood. All related, and all feirce. He looked to Kazetora, who was their leader. And jumped down after him to stand in front of the army.

Blue skidded to a hault as a Kai dog dropped in front of him, Accusing him to be Ashi. Blue's eyes flashed with indignation, His fur rising menacingly. "Ashi?" He growled, Baring his teeth. "How dare you insult me like that!" He spat at the ground taking step forward. "I am Blue, a soldier of the Ohu army! We were told by out Comrade, the Nin-ken Haru, that you took our leader, Tokimune. The son of Akame of Iga." He growled, running his tongue over his teeth and takiing another step forward, he gave a brisk nod as he saw Kotone and Rae flank him on either side.

Rae growled, moving forward to stand next to her brother. Her brown gray pelt bristling making her look twice her size. Once her brother gave the command, she'd gladly attack.

Akumatora growled, "Ahahah! You see this Kaze? A female!" He laughed again, his voice mocking.

[Koushi]

Makoto's mouth was still wide open when Blue made his directions. He padded next to Rae and dipped his head.
"I-I'm ready when you are," he muttered, heart throbbing with fear. /Were the Kai Dogs really this vicious? What was their motive for capturing Tokimune?!/ Then he blinked disbelivingly. "Could it be...? Could the Kai Dogs already have been recruited by...ASHI!?" he murmured, although it was loud enough for everyone to hear.
But when they had confronted the Kai Dogs, he thought wrong. /They thought we were on Ashi's army?/ Makoto thought, confused. /Well, I guess it's no wonder. Tokimune and I do bare strange resemblences to wolves.../ he added to his thoughts.
Then it came. One of the Kai had insulted Rae.
"You bastard! I bet she could kill you one hundred times over!" Makoto snarled, fur fluffing out violently and eyes possessing an eerie, furious glow. "You're weak for misjudging your enemy before a fight!" he threatened, crouching down.


Haru gave an abrupt nod.
"Of course. If I see anything, I promise to wait before striking," she vowed, tail slowly churning into an anxious wag. With a dip of her head, and leapt onto a tree and zipped downward.
/Suckers,/ she thought, scratching up her bleeding pads again. She pushed forward, stomach growling and limbs aching, towards the hollow where Tokimune was stashed. She screwed up her face when she re-smelled the horrid stench of the rotting goat on his fur.
"Ugh..." she snarled, heaving him up onto her back again. Looking up, she estimated that it was an hour or two after midnight. "I should arrive by Dawn...Or in the Morning at latest," she huffed, panting through the forest. Many times, she felt as if she were about to collapse, but she kept strong.
/This is a Nin-ken's duty,/ she panted, /to follow orders flawlessly.../ Haru felt her eyelids growing heavier. She hadn't slept since two nights ago, and with the lethal weight of the brute on her back, she grew tired more easily.
"No," she snarled to herself, "I WILL get there in time...!" And with that, Haru passed the gate of Utsunmiya towards the Southern Alps.

[Rinja]

Kisaragi snarled at the kai dogs "Whats wrong with females!? you bastards!'' She barked angrily, She clenched her teeth, with a low growl, her fur bristeling.Her claws dug into the ground as she ficked her tail to the left."Dmnet...we have to get tokimune back!"

[Aki]

Kazetora's eyes lifted as his cousin now appeared by his side. Not moving and inch he lowered his eyes toward Blue, then to Rae. He gave a small chuckle as he turned to Akumatora, maw parted in laughter. "So now Ashi's got down to recruiting females eh?" He laughed as he stared down at Rae. His ears pricked as Blue down spoke, a small smile creaping up his maw.

He gave his lips a swift lick before letting his eyes wander. "Tokimune? Who the hell is that? And shut your trap." He snarled his last words at Kisaragi. His eyes slid toward Makoto as he spoke. He just chuckled. "Me, a Bastard? Thats some joke..." He paused now listening to Blue as his head snapped toward the dog.

"What? Ohu soldiers. Trying to trick us? Weed never sent any armies without inviting us!" He snarled launching himself at Blue. "Bastard! Don't play games with me!" He snarled as he threw his fangs toward Blue's neck.

[Tokimune]

Kaitora had been with his brother and cousin a few minutes ago. Then they decided to run up ahead, they had heard something. Well he tried going but his leg had acted up. He sighed as he limped toward the noice he heard. His ears perked as he heard something different. Fighting?

He slowly trotted forward to see his brother lunge at this dog. He heard the name "Ashi" being used a few times. He felt uneasy. Ashi and a small band of his soldiers had atacked him once. That is why his leg now is plagued by nerve damage. "Brother!! Who are these dogs on our mountain?!"

[Taiya]

Kotone skidded to a halt before Blue had. Ohu? Blue hadn't mentioned that! Kotone would have wagged her tail in excitement if it weren't for the Kai dogs. She wasn't afraid of them, but she did respect them. She fluffed out her fur, making herself look even bigger than she had before. Kotone decided not to draw attention to herself, after all it showed that she had wolf blood and Ashi himself was a wolf. However, she couldn't surpress a snarl, that snarl led her to actually growling, and baring her fangs as she licked her lips menacingly. Sexism pissed her off the most.

[Rae and Blue]

Blue laughed and stepped aside as Kazetora lunged at him, He meerly sank his fangs into the back of his neck and pinned him down. "Weed was captured by Ashi, and aswell as Aki, weed's son. They're both in the Southern Alps." He growled the truth, Not drawing blood from the Kai dog, merely trying to reason with him. A little peice of him had always distrusted Haru.. He let go all of a sudden.. "Then that means..." He growled, clenching his teeth. "DAMMIT, I KNEW IT!" He roared. "Haru was Ashi's spy!" He cursed himself as it all clicked together, the squirrel she gave him, 'poisened.' The water she gave him, 'drugged.' He shook his head. "Look we don't have time to argue. Your either with Ohu or your against it." He growled, Already turning away from the Kai dogs. "We're heading to Hokkaido to gather the dogs there to aid us to rescue Weed, Aki, and NOW Tokimune aswell!" , but she too

Rae brushed her tail over Makoto's flank but growled aswell, trying her hardest to follow Blue's lead. "HA! Look at him makoto, so wet behind the ears like a pup!" She lowered her head in another growl. She tensed, preparing to lunge as one of the kai dogs lunged for her brother, but he took care of him. She dodged to the side as the reddish brown kai dog lunged for her, "I'll show you 'pup'!!" she heard him hiss as he zoomed past her, missing by inches.

Akumatora haulted at Blue's next words, and looked nearly horrified,, Weed.. captured?

He looked to his brother, waiting for his answer. Kaitora then walked in, Akumatora looked at him, "They say they are dogs of Ohu."
