Rae stopped at the tree line, Standing beside Makoto as she watched her brother step into the shadows of the woods, They had reached the base of the first mountain, the hills so far gone behind them now, and the home Blue and rae had once known. She smiled, the adventure had begun.
"Phew..." she looked up at the snowy precipes high above the forest they were about to enter. "Man.. Thats gonna be a pain.. but I think I can handle it.." She said, half to herself, Half to makoto. She smiled, brown gray fur glinting in the afternoon sun, it had taken meerly a few hours to reach the mountains.

Blue stepped through the trees, Looking over at Tokimune, "And so the Climbing begins." he said, looking into the forest. It was hardly noticeable, but the forest did go uphill, only slightly, and there were a few rifts in the gorund where the tectonic plates under the earths surface had shifted and sent one of the layers up above the other. He smiled, it had been a while since he had been here. He felt the scar on his shoulder tingle lightly, He had earned that in a battle with Jinjin before when he was younger. He had lost that fight, being only a year old, and Jinjin had been 7.
"Are we ready?" He asked Tokimune and looked back at the others. His sister had been silent with him latley, spending all the travel time with Makoto, he felt a slight pang of jealousy but pushed it away, He was just glad his sister was happy.

Tokimune looked around. It was truely very beautiful up here. He took in a deep breath of the mountain air. He started thinking of a few things. The battle that he may have to have against Jinjin, how the others will fare on the way up the mountains. And how he wished that Aki could see the mountains. He closed his eyes for a moment. Then turned to Blue as he spoke. "And so the Climbing begins." "That it does." He winked. He took another deep breath of the mountain air. It was very clean, unlike the air in some human cities. "Are we ready?" "I am when you are." He looked back at everyone else. "Is everyone ready?"

"Yeah..." Makoto blinked at the distance they had to climb. "Well...Let's get going. I'm ready." he bunched his muscles and fluffed out his fur, ready for the journey. His eyes glimmered with a new hope and determination; this time to protect Rae. He knew he would die for her, but he hoped it wouldn't have to be too soon.
He started padding towards the front, making sure Rae was not too far away. He flared his nostrils, then tasted the fresh air through his mouth. /It didn't look too far.../ he gulped.
Haru smiled. "As ready as I'll ever be!" she barked, wagging her tail like an overactive pup again. She glanced at Tokimune first, then the others. /He should get ill by midnight,/ she thought, hiding every single smirk and sneer she had to offer, /Then that's when...I can set them up with the Kai dogs living here.../ She looked up the mountain, bright green eyes blazing.
/Ashi...I'm almost done.../

Rae smiled at Makoto, Seeing his excitment grow, She pressed her side to his and kept pace with him, The trees thickening as they walked deeper into the forest. The trees blocked the sun so it already looked like nightfall and she eyes Makoto from the corner of her eye, She smiled, "Afraid of the dark?" she teased, shoving him lightly and kept walking.
Blue laughed and walked forward, Staying by Tokimune, he could smell something odd about him and shook his head, A small heat was raising off his skin aswell, what had happened? He shook his head, he was probably imagining things, And the sun was already setting, so maybe he would cool off when night fully came? "We're getting closer to Kai now, perhaps an hour or so more." he informed his leader, Shaking his blue gray fur.

Tokimune continued up the mountain. He turned to see the others moving up aswell. He started to pant slightly, he also felt a little hot. Maybe the mountain air was not good for him. He thought to himself. He shook his head as he continued on. A slight breeze blew through his fur. He turned his head to see Blue walking with him. "We're getting closer to Kai now, perhaps an hour or so more." He nodded. "Good thing. We will be there before dawn then."

"We should rest as soon as we see the moon. If we travel during nighttime, one of us can slip and risk the chance of falling down the mountain," Makoto suggested, padding uphill next to Rae. "Perhaps we should camp over the next ledge," he added, pointing to a ledge a good seven meters away, slanted because of the mountain. He blinked at Rae, hoping she would agree; even the demonic thought of her falling off of the mountain if they travelled at night slipped into his mind, and now he felt desperate to be agreed with. He could never forgive himself if something as terrible and unfortunate like that happened; in fact, he would probably jump after her. Makoto pushed the thought to the back of his mind and blinked up at the ledge again.
Haru looked at the Husky/Inu mix and dipped her head. "I think that's a good idea. We can't afford to lose anymore soldiers; plus I hear it gets quite cold in the mountains at night. One of us might get sick," she glanced at everyone, but at Tokimune the longest.
/Heh, all is going according to plan...And if I start a riot between them and the Kai dogs, I'll bet Ashi would be particularly pleased!/ she thought, not letting any of her dark thoughts penetrate her innocent face. /I'll just wait until everyone is asleep or away...And then I'll procede with giving Tokimune a Slumber Seed...When I've got him, I'll stow him nearby, and perhaps tell the others that I saw a Kai kidnap him...Yes,/ she smiled, but not deviously, as she thought,/Then when the coast is clear, I'll return to Ashi with the sleeping beauty! It's flawless!/ Haru blinked proudly, fluffing out her chest as she continued to pad forward.

Kisaragi sighed, she wasnt really paying attention to much of anything.She walked next to tokimune "Are we close to thereyet?"She sighed as she curled her tail up and looked into the sky.

Rae smiled. sticking very close to Makoto, the chilly air felt nice but she liked to use it as an excuse to stay closer to him, when he suggested they find somewhere to rest she opened her mouth to protest, but the plea in his eyes made her look away and nod, "Uh.. Alright, if you say so." She said, Wagging the tip of her tail and climbing to the top of the ledge. She could see a small dip in the land, probably best to stay out of the wind, She smiled, Trotting down the ledge and Stopped at the bottom, "This is perfect!" She said, already feeling the chilly air still.
Blue looked at Tokimune as he descended the hill into the dip, "Haru.. Find the nearest stream and bring back some water for Tokimune please, he looks a bit ill." he said walking to his friend, "You alright?" he asked, looking at him with concern.

Kotone felt the mountain breeze chill her fur. She loved it up here! She felt her wolf blood awaken and pump through her veins, while her kishu blood enjoyed the jumping and climbing. She couldn't help but wonder if she was related to the legendary Iga clan. She doubted it, but it would have been nice. At least she could make a name of herself, as she already had 'The Mute Scholar'. She rather liked it. Kotone stood up and was pleasently surprised to see dogs. She watched them ascend the mountain with interest. She also noticed that she was downwind of them, they would smell her soon enough.

Kisaragi's eyes closed for a second as she felt the breeze go through her pelt as she turned her head to tokimune for a split second, then she looked down, emerald eyues shining as she looked at everyone else, then she turned her atttention to 'Haru' "Uhg....i dont trust her" Kisaragi thought, looking at the Nin-ken.When in the blink of the eye,a new scent entered her nostrils , Her ears perked slightly as she lowered her eye lids "Tokimune, someone else is here..." She barked

Tokimune kept going up the mountain, leading everyone behind him. He can feel that he was getting weaker and weaker every moment. He started panting slightly harder now. He felt really hot. His ears perked as he heard Blue. He was greatful that Blue had cared. "You alright?" He shook his head. "I feel ill, I think it is altitude sickness. I should be fine with a little rest." He layed down on the ground. 'Sorry everyone."

Makoto let out a playful chuckle. "Heh, I told you, Tokimune. We can resume tomorrow; besides, it's getting late." he glanced at Rae.
"If you still have some energy, maybe we can get some prey so we don't have to hunt early tomorrow. I heard that big, juicy mountain birds hunt mice there." He looked anxiously along the cleft of the mountain, as if he were still itching to catch something that would please her.
/But,/ he blinked, /it might be dangerous chasing prey at night on a MOUNTAIN./ Makoto glanced at Rae again. "Well, only if you want to..." Now even he was unsure.
Haru stretched. "I'm pretty beat myself." She blinked at Tokimune. "Do you want me to fetch you some water, Tokimune-kun? Maybe there's a cavepool somewhere..." Her eyes peered around.
/Finally, it's starting to work...Now all he has to do is fall asleep.../ She thought, continuing to glance around casually. A gust of wind from above whirled down on them, and she flinched. "Whoa!" she barked. "We've got to be careful of those unpredictable gusts..." she shook her pelt, causing the rings and shuriken to jingle.
"Well, this is pretty high." she looked from over the ledge. "I'd hate to be the pebble that falls off this mountain..." Haru murmured.

Rae smiled, and shook her fur, it was good to be back in the cold again. "Sure!" She said, ignoring the look in his eyes this time, maybe it was just her? 'Oh well, I'm sure its nothing.' she thought, Already beginning to trot to where Makoto had motioned for them to look, The drop in the canyon looked so very threatening as she looked over the edge, She swallowed, and looked away, Already looking back at Makoto, "Wait.. Mountain birds, At night? Man, Makoto, this mountain air must be gettting to you too!" She laughed, Beginning to turn back to head further into the woods, but before she could take a step, a gust of wind blue and made her take a step back, She stumbled, loose gravelly rocks at the edge and half caught herself. She yelped, Her back half hangin over the edge as she scrabbled for a grip at the side. "M-Makoto!" She yelled, desperation strung through every word.
Blue nodded at Haru and began to walk off into the woods, he was going to go search the area and perhaps find a good route that would lead them safley over the mountain, He trusted Makoto and Blue to keep an eye on Haru and Tokimune, He'd probably catch prey for his friend on his way home. He was pretty far into the woods when a gust of wind shot through his ears, drowning out any noise from where his friends were camping.

Kotone stood up. She couldn't see to well, but one of them looked unable to continue. The rest had spred out. She decided to follow a greyish form (Blue). Her long legs easily navigated her over rocks and she soon walked right behind him, up close she could see that he was a male and a Husky. She walked casually, as if with a friend and she didn't say anything. Kotone was interested in this group of dogs.

Blue turned as he heard footsteps behind him, And then saw a dog right next to him. He stopped short, this dog obviously meant no harm. "Uhm.. Hello there." He said awkwardly, not every day you see a dog that just walks with you as if they've known you their whole lives. He held his tail out straight, neutral, to show his peace.
