RULES OF THE OOC
Follow at your own risk.
((Belongs to GDO))
1. First and foremost, be sure that you are courteous from the moment your cursor graces my forum main page. Treat others the way you wish to be treated, whether you're talking to a guest, another member or a staff member.
2. Do not, I repeat, do not partake in any sort of rude or impolite behavior where the general public can see it. I understand that fights happen and that, occasionally, a sex-related conversation may come up. You are not prohibited from such actions, but keep them to the private boards and to pms, so young guests don't stumble on them on accident. We could get in trouble for that.
3. The above rule includes the posting of images. No pornography or anything disgusting, on the public areas of this site or anyplace else for that matter. This is no place to partake in such actions.
4. There is no rule that says you have to like staff members. In fact, there is no rule that says you have to be nice to them either. No one is more important or more superior than anyone else on this forum, so staff are not except from the rules and members don't have to treat them any differently from others. However, you are to comply to their demands. They are the authority figures here and are in charge of making sure the forum runs smoothly and efficiently. You may voice concerns if you do not like a decision that has been made, but you still must obey said command or decision unless the staff member changes their mind.
5. Don't get cheeky. I said you can voice concerns to staff members but you cannot flat out insult or argue angrily with them. That is a form of disrespect and, as outlined in the first rule in this thread, it is expected that you avoid such outbursts and unpleasant activities when visiting my forum.
6. Images posted as viewable images will automatically be converted to links if they exceed 600 pixels in width to avoid forum stretching. Just to let you know.
7. That said, signatures should not exceed 500 pixels in width. Again, to avoid stretching the page too much.
8. As mentioned above, no obscene images are to be posted anywhere on the forum, particularly if they are of a sexual nature. Ginga fan art that happens to be particularly gory or of a sexual nature is allowed within reason, but only posted in the art section with proper notations in the title to warn of the mature content. No potentially offensive, gory, or otherwise explicit/mature images are to be posted in signatures or avatars.
9. Also no stolen images are to be posted here either. Meaning, any photographs, artwork or animations that are posted or otherwise used by you must either be of your own creation or you must have the original artist's permission to use it. Obviously, this does not apply to Ginga screenshots or colored manga scans, as Ginga material is published and free to be distributed to the public. But personal works of art are not and are not yours to take or use in any way. If you need a picture for your character, request one or use a template.
10. Whenever an image is posted, particularly in a place like an avatar or signature that will be shown or viewed frequently, the image must first be uploaded to an image hosting site, such as Imageshack, Photobucket or Tinypic. There is absolutely no direct linking to anything image-related. This steals bandwidth and will likely get the forum in trouble. Don't do it. Period.
11. When posting Out of Character, there is to be little to no chat speaking. While small phrases used to convey feelings, such as using lol to show that you've found something funny, is alright, I should not see whole posts typed out in shorthand. This is a text-based role-play site, if you cannot type in complete sentences in English, you probably don't belong here.
12. Posts Out of Character, just like In Character, are expected to follow the conventions of standard written English. It's not absolutely vital that everything be spelled perfectly (I, for one, am probably the worst speller in the world) but you should at least try to use proper grammar and punctuation. Just like IC posts, OOC posts need to be understood and easy to read, so the proper use of periods, commas and capital letters is expected by staff.
13. Due to the money system that functions based on a player's post count, SPAM (stupid pointless annoying messages) is strictly forbidden. Spamming as a means of raising your post count is a lot like cheating in a video game and it would give you a leg up on all of the honest, active people who take their time writing meaningful posts. So, if you are seen replying to twenty threads over the course of ten minutes with stupid pointless annoying messages like "cool!" or "lol" or "yeah", you will be warned and your post count and cash fund will both be reduced accordingly. On the second offense, they will both be erased (set back to zero). The third time is a temporary ban.
14. Also, as a means to further prevent SPAM, please try not to reply to a thread that hasn't been touched in over a month. While this does not apply In Character, Out Of Character, a thread that has been left for a month is probably dead and long forgotten. Rather than bump it to the top of the board unnecessarily, just pm the author if you really want to comment on it or mention it in another post.
15. This forum is rated PG to R and above. Out of Character transactions are to be kept PG or lower, meaning cursing is allowed but to be kept to a minimum and other sorts of explicit comments and conversations are to be avoided.
